Why do Mdu Probes typically get installed into the bottom plate?
Bottom plates are the building’s most common and accessible ‘moisture accumulation areas’ of a building. If excess moisture enters the building and does not leave, it will typically accumulate at these areas due to a mixture of gravitational, surface tension and thermodynamic effects – such as bottom plates. Mdu Probe moisture content readings pick up this increase of moisture to alert the owner of a problem in the vicinity. Other moisture accumulation areas include lintels and mid-floors.
