Reclad still failing

Reclad still failing

This is a classic situation showing how it doesn’t pay to blame the cladding first – and think that recladding will solve your woes. This property has been reclad for at least 3 years now – yet there are still leaks in the property. The work is on-going, but the owners failed to rectify the key problem in the property: the roof. The metal profle roof is on a very low angle with no turn-downs. During construction (and reclad) the builders would have walked on the roof, causing it to turn up slightly, and during rain, moisture will cling on and run back inside the house, soaking it from the top down. They also have drainage problems around their floors as the water table is very high in comparison with the house’s concrete sunken floor – now the carpet is rotting. Their money could have been much better spent fixing the REAL problems.
