2004 Leak Microclimate Analysis of In-situ Hitex Diamond Cavity Wall Construction

Microclimate Analysis of In-situ Hitex Diamond Cavity Wall Construction

How do Hitex Diamond-clad walls perform moisture-widem and can they recover from leaks?

ACC asked “Does RH exceed 80\% in leak event on both North and South walls? Do Diamond walls dry out and recover following a leak event? What period does drying take? Does RH exceed 80\% for sufficient time for moulds to grow? This work is in response to “Should Diamond have limitations on use around a house?

Outcomes showed leaks rose wall humidity then lowered over time

Leak was entered into framing behind wrap. MC increased immediately to 50\% (surface probes). RH did not exceed 80\% (above which moulds can grow). Diamond dried to 20\%MC in 5 days. RH returned to normal condition in 5 days. No conditions where mould could grow.
