House gains CCC through DBH Determination despite having non-acceptable solutions

House gains CCC through Government (DBH) Determination

The Mdu Probe System was installed to prove weathertightness rather than change the detail to an Acceptable Solution as desired by Council. This determination (2005/147 – an Addendum to Determination 2004/77) showed that the Territorial Authority (Auckland City) refused the CCC to the homeowner partially on the grounds that the Ground Clearances did not meet Acceptable Solution. Here is an excerpt of Determination 2005/147 showing that although the building did not meet Acceptable Solution status, there was sufficient evidence to show that it met Alternative Solution status:

4.1.3 Although some areas around the garage still do not comply with E2/AS1 (the acceptable Solution), the improved clearances now provided appear to provide adequate weathertightness (as shown by the EWDS System) and meet the Building Code requirements as alternative solutions.
